Iceland

  1. Iceland is a hotspot because of it's opening. The plate tectonics started to open about 60 million years ago. The north American plate and the Eurasian plates are moving outward about 1 cm per year which is spreading the gap in Iceland.

  2. Iceland was formed because of volcanic activity caused by sea floor spreading along the Mid Atlantic Ridge. This would make it useful to study while researching sea floor spreading.

  4. Geologist like to study here because the North American and the Eurasian tectonical plate are moving apart. The movement is the directions of East and West.

  6. Iceland, despite its name, always has incredibly warm temperatures. Iceland has many tectonic plates colliding beneath the surface and has led to volcanic activity. Also, the sea floor is spreading underneath the surface.
