Some scientists (and people) have had theories that animals are able to predict natural disasters. It has not yet been proven that animals can predict natural disasters, but it may be possible. Weeks, days and even minutes before a geologic event animals have been known to run and try to find shelter. There has been many studies done on this theory. One possible explanation is that animals are able to sense the vibrations in the earth. These vibrations come in the form of P waves and s waves. Most humans can't detect the P waves, but animals, with better senses, might be able to detect the waves. Another explanation is that the animals are also able to sense the change in air and the gases released from the earth. In conlcusion, animals may or may not be able to detect natural disasters, but most scientists can agree that animals can detect changes in the earth much better than humans.
